Dance Recital 2012

We are so proud of our little dancer!  She danced her heart out on that stage!!!  She didn’t miss a step and those expressions were priceless!  She has a stage presence and knows how to work the crowd :)

18 Months Old

DSC_0766

My little man is growing up!  I can’t believe in 6 short months he’ll be 2 years old!!  I tell Ella all the time that I’m going to put a brick on their heads to keep them from growing and she tells me that I might hurt Evan if I do that…lol!  Since it’s been 6 months (oh my!) from my last post, I have a lot of catching up to do on what Evan’s been doing…

  • He’s wearing 12-18 months clothing and size 5 shoe (he can wear a pair of shoes out in no time!)
  • He still doesn’t like sleeping any better than he did before.  It’s a fight to get him to sleep…literally!  I’ve been head-butted a few times.  But once he’s asleep, he’s the sweetest little snuggler ever!
  • He loves to eat!  There’s not many meals that go by that he’s not begging for more.  He definitely has his Daddy’s appetite!
  • Evan is into EVERYTHING and not afraid of ANYTHING!  He is all boy!
  • I’m beginning to think he’s part monkey because he climbs on everything!  I found him one day standing on the kitchen table within seconds of me turning away to throw something in the trash.  He can climb a set of stairs in under 20 seconds!  We get quite the workout trying to keep up with him :)
  • He gives the best sweet boy kisses!
  • He likes to play Simon Says with Ella.   He tries to do everything she does!
  • He still loves his paci!  I think breaking him is going to be much harder than it was for Ella.
  • He is a man of few words.  I think Ella came out of the womb talking but Evan won’t take the paci out to say much.  It might have something to do with Ella talking for him???  (My Mom says I did the same thing and she didn’t think my brother would ever talk!)
  • He loves playing with trucks and tractors.  Tractor was actually one of his first words after Mama and Dada!
  • He loves to be outside!  He cries and cries every time we have to come inside.  He’s actually figured out how to open the door and let himself out a few times!
  • He’s figured out how to fight back…let’s just say Ella has a few less strands of hair!  I thought I had a few more years before I had to referee.

Evan Thomas you are the sweetest little boy!  You may be wild, love to climb, and constantly keep us on our toes but we wouldn’t trade you for the world!!

The Look

If Evan doesn’t get his way…watch out!  He’ll give you “the look!”

Gotta Get Caught Up

Where does the time go?  Today I realized that Evan is 18 months old…and it’s been over a month since I last updated this blog…and it’s been almost a year since we started building our house…and in a few short months Ella will be 5 and start kindergarten!!  I still can’t believe my baby is going to big school!

I’m going to try to catch back up on what’s been going on with our wild bunch…

Ella is “all grown up” or so she thinks :)  She is the smartest 4 year old I know (and yes! I am a little biased).  She is reading and is so good at it!  She truly amazes me!  She’s still a girly girl and loves clothes, shoes, dress-up and anything/everything PRINCESS (it takes one to know one…lol!)  She has learned how to use the house phone and memorized everyone’s numbers.  I catch her all the time hiding and talking to Aunt Candy :)  She loves to sing and dance!

And this little guy…well he’s a man on the move!  You know you’ve spent the day with Evan because by naptime you need a nap too :)  He may be into everything but that doesn’t stop him from being the sweetest little guy I know!  I just can’t get enough of him!  He’s learning how to fight back and Ella’s payback is coming soon ;)  He loves, loves, loves anything with a tractor on it!  I think he’s going to be a John Deere boy!

Emergency Trip

A couple weeks ago, we made our first trip to the emergency room :(  Ella had been complaining with her tummy hurting for a few days prior to our ER trip.  It seemed to be getting worse and our pediatrician recommended we go ahead and go that evening.  They were so good to Ella!  They wanted to rule out appendicitis and the only way they could was to do a CT scan….that meant an IV, drinking contrast, and getting Ella to be still while they did the scan.  I was so proud of my BIG GIRL!  She didn’t cry when they started her IV…instead we sang Dixie Chicks :)  She drank the contrast without complaining even though she shivered every time she took a drink.  She recommended they get strawberry flavor to the nurse.  She was such a trooper!  Cory got to stay with her when they did the scan and he said she did exactly what the CT tech told her to do :)  We are so thankful to God that the CT scan and all her blood work came back good!  She had been on antibiotics and had the stomach bug so they think it was a combination of that and a little constipation.
