2 Months Old

2 months evan in red chair

Little Evan is growing by the minute!  He has changed so much over the last month.  Every day he looks different!!  One day I think he looks like Cory and the next day he looks like me!  Sometimes I can’t get over how much he looks like Ella did when she was a baby :)

Evan is a MAMA’S BOY already!!  And I’m so in love with my little man!  He’s also stole his Daddy and Big Sister’s heart too!!

Evan at 2 months…

  • Weight:  10 lbs. and 11 oz.
  • Height:  22.5 inches
  • You are wearing size 1-2 diapers and size 0-3 month clothes.  You’ve outgrown a few of your 0-3 month sleepers…just in the feet :)  You’ve got little monkey toes that can’t stretch out in there!  You can blame both your Mommy and Daddy for those long skinny toes!
  • You have found your hands and can’t keep them out of your mouth!  You try so hard to get that little thumb in your mouth and eventually are successful after gnawing your fist for a while.  It reminds me so much of your Uncle Matt :)  The only bad part about your new hand obsession is all this drooling you’re doing!
  • You still love bath time!  Almost every time you get in the tub you poop on me!  One night it took me 3 tubs of water to get you bathed.
  • You have started smiling and cooing at us when we talk to you!  There is nothing sweeter than that little baby smile :)  It absolutely melts my heart every time I see that little smile!!  You try so hard to talk to Ella and you love listening to her talk to you!  Those little eyes follow every step she makes.
  • You are staying awake more during the day and love laying on your play mat.  You keep those little arms and legs going non-stop!  I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come :)
  • You have slept through the night several times!  Mommy is loving the extra sleep!!
  • You are still eating every 3 hours during the day and about every 5 hours at night.
  • You are the SWEETEST and most content baby!  You only cry when you are really hungry!  You get this from your Daddy :)  He gets all worked up over food too!
  • Your nickname has become “Little Brother”
  • You are a “Mama’s Boy!”  When you are sleepy you want to cuddle up close to me and I love it!  Daddy says you don’t like cuddling with him because he doesn’t have any “cushioning” on his chest.

Ella’s First Dentist Visit

ella dentist 1

Ella went for her very first dentist appointment last week.  Cory made her the appointment a couple weeks ago, which was conveniently while he was working!  We made a HUGE deal about the dentist all week hoping she would at least open her mouth when we got there.  Miss Sharon even bought Ella a special surprise for her first dentist visit!  On the ride there, Ella asked a million questions about what they were going to do.  I told her that a girl (Melissa) would brush her teeth and then the dentist would check them.  While we were sitting in the waiting room, Ella told me to sit very still and quiet until they called Taylor…haha!!  Melissa came into the waiting room and called for Ella and she got right up and took off with her.  I was shocked!  We got into the room and Ella climbed right up in the chair and was ready to get her teeth brushed.  Melissa was so good with her!  She let Ella look, touch, and play with all the instruments…she even had cute names for them.  The suction thing was named “Mr. Thirsty” since he drinks up all the water!  Ella liked playing with “Mr. Thirsty” but she never did let Melissa use him.  Instead, Ella wanted a “spit cup.”  Melissa cleaned her teeth with PINK bubblegum toothpaste (imagine that!), flossed her teeth, and got rid of any remaining sugar bugs by scratching her teeth :)  Ella did so good!  I was such a PROUD MOMMY!  After Melissa was done, she went to get the dentist.  Dr. Bridges came in and Ella immediately said, “he’s not looking at my teeth because he’s a BOY!”  She looked at me and said, “Mommy, I thought he was going to be a girl!”  Finally, after 2 princess stickers, a princess toothbrush, and a bouncy ball she opened her mouth and let him look at her teeth.  He told her that he didn’t find any sad teeth and that all her teeth were HAPPY TEETH!  Yay!!  I was so happy that we survived the dentist!!

Sweet Baby Boy

evan 5 weeks old cropped

I LOVE this picture of Evan!  I could just squeeze those little cheeks!  He just melts my heart!!!

Side note:  Cory hates the hat…he says it looks like a girl hat but I promised him it was a newsboy hat for BOYS!   Besides, girl hats have big bows or flowers and boy hats have buttons!

Three Going On Thirteen…

LITTLE MISS INDEPENDENT!

Ella wants to do EVERYTHING all by herself!  She wants everything done her way and will fuss if it doesn’t suit her!  I’ve threatened several times to chop all her hair off because she fusses saying I don’t fix it right.  I thought this wasn’t supposed to start until she was in her teens!  But…I’ve been informed that I was the same way.  I just can’t imagine that?!  Even when I want to scream, I look at those big, dark eyes and that little sweet smile and my heart melts!  When she realizes I am frustrated, she always says “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do it!  I love you, Mommy.  Give me a hug!”  It’s so sweet!  Not only is she sassy, but so funny!  She keeps us laughing with the things she says and does.  That little brain is like a sponge and soaks up everything she hears.  And of course, the things you don’t want them to hear are the very things they will say!  The other night, we took Ella out to dinner and then went bowling.  Ella ordered chicken tenders and little rolls with butter…it was so cute!  But anyway, she took a few bites of her chicken and then looked at Cory and said, “this chicken tastes like sh#t!”  Cory looked at her funny and then she tried to correct herself and say, “I mean, this chicken tastes like shrimp.”  LOL!  We corrected her but it was SOOO hard not to laugh!  I’m blaming her Daddy for that ugly word!

Independent, sassy, smart, funny, and a whole lotta’ cute…that’s our Ella!

Wild & Crazy…

…that pretty much sums up the last 6 weeks at our house!  Evan is now 6 weeks old and I can hardly believe it!  Ella is still “adjusting” to being a Big Sister, but she loves to help take care of her little brother.  The days seem to go by so fast anymore!  We stay so busy all day that before we know it it’s bedtime :(  We are all tired but God keeps giving us the energy to take care of all the things we need to!  The other day I went to get my hair done and I fell asleep while she was coloring my hair!  Haha!!  Life may be WILD and CRAZY but we are so happy and lovin’ every minute of it!

Trick-Or-Treating

Ella has been so excited about trick-or-treating for over a month!  She told her Daddy she wanted to go on a hayride with her friends so that’s what her Daddy arranged.  He worked all afternoon getting the 4-wheeler and trailer ready for a Halloween night hayride and trick-or-treating through our neighborhood.  Ella was SOOO excited!!! (and so was Daddy!)  The kiddos had such a good time…Ella kept telling her Daddy to “go slow because there were little kids on this hayride” :)   We had so much fun trick-or-treating and can’t wait until next year!  Now…what do we do with all this candy?!
