Evan’s Nursery

…is still a work in progress!!  Since several people have asked me to post pictures, here’s what we’ve got so far.  We got the crib put together a few weeks ago and a couple days later we were watching the 11pm news and saw that our crib had been recalled.  Luckily, Pottery Barn sent us the replacement parts quickly and it looks to be a pretty easy fix.  The picture I ordered for his nursery back in May finally arrived last week while we were at the beach so we’re making progress!!!  We picked a very non-traditional nursery theme…vintage fire trucks…since Cory is a volunteer firefighter.  I agreed since Cory let me go all out girlie in Ella’s room :)

Here’s a picture of the bedding from the website (Evan’s crib is currently full of stuff so I will post an actual picture when I get it cleaned out)…

The 3 piece canvas picture came while we were on vacation and Cory and my Dad were nice enough to hang it up when we got home :)  I read in the reviews that the picture was large but it’s HUGE!  It looks so cute though and I won’t have to worry about finding anything else to hang on that wall :)

Here are a couple accessories I’ve found on my search for room decorations…I LOVE Hobby Lobby!  I was there one day and just happened to run across this adorable little fire hat and boot.  Now…I just have to find somewhere to put them in Evan’s nursery.

Our rocker/glider is being recovered and I’m getting a vintage fire truck pedal car to finish off the big things for his room.  So, that leaves just a few things here and there and we’ll be all ready…maybe :)

4th of July

After church, we spent the day celebrating the 4th of July with family and friends!  Later that evening, we went and sat with Uncle Matt on the fire truck to watch the fireworks.  Ella swam all day and fell asleep before the fireworks started.  After the first boom, she was awake and ready to watch the fireworks.

Thomas At Tweetsie

We took Ella the first weekend in June to see Thomas the Tank Engine at Tweetsie.  It turned out to be a perfect day to go…it was overcast and there was a nice mountain breeze!  (this was especially nice considering Tweetsie sits on a mountain and everything is uphill!)  Last year, Ella was a little uneasy about riding anything but this year she didn’t want to get off the rides.  She LOVED the ferris wheel and wanted it to go faster!  She wasn’t even scared of the Indians this year on the train ride.  She LOVED it!!

This ride went SOOO fast!  When Ella sat back all you could see was the top of her hairbow.  Cory said she loved it.  He was a little hesitant about riding it because he thought it might make him sick :)  But, he did it anyway…anything for Daddy’s Lil’ Girl!

Pinkalicious

In honor of our favorite book, Pinkalicious, we made PINK cupcakes!  We have read this book so many times that Ella has the entire book memorized!!  It is about a girl that eats so many pink cupcakes that she turns PINK!  She develops an acute case of “pinkititis” and has to eat green veggies to turn back to normal.

Busy…Busy…Busy!

Where did the month of June go?!  I can’t believe it’s already the middle of July and Evan will be here in 10 weeks!  June was the busiest month we’ve had so far this year!!  We had a lot of “happenings” in June including buying land for our dream house, celebrating Alicia and Baby Connor with a baby shower, Father’s Day, and Ella’s 3rd birthday!  Every weekend we had something to do!  Hopefully we’ll get some rest on our upcoming trip to the beach!!  I need a VACATION!!

Here are some pictures from June that I haven’t had a chance to post…

Alicia’s Baby Shower

We are so excited for Alicia and Robbie who are expecting their first baby this month!  He’s due to arrive anytime!!  I know Alicia is so ready for him to get here!  Ella really enjoyed the shower!  We played a game where everyone got a cup with a baby frozen in an ice cube.  If your ice cube melted and your baby came out then you would yell, “my water broke!”  Ella was so funny because she carried that little cup around and would keep saying her water broke :)  At one point, I look over at the cake and Ella and another little girl were eating the icing off the side of the cake.  Then she wanted to know why we hadn’t sang Happy Birthday yet…haha!!

ella hugging henry Ella made friends with Henry at the shower.  Henry is the son of one of my sorority sisters from college.  He was the cutest little boy!  They hit it off from the start.  Ella bossed him around and he did exactly what she said…poor guy!

Father’s Day Weekend

We got to spend some time in Winston on Father’s Day with Paw-Paw Kelly & Nana P.  We also got to see Aunt Dorene, Grandma Grace, and Grandma & Grandpa Johnson!  It was a great visit and Ella loved getting to spend time with all of them.  She drew pictures and wrote her name for everybody to put on their refrigerators.

“Pretty School” Water Day

Cory and I volunteered to help with Ella’s preschool’s water day.  The kids had a blast (so did Miss Mitchell and Mrs. Foster)!  It had to be 100+ degrees that day…or maybe it just felt that way to me :)  Ella stayed cool in the pool and had so much fun playing with all her “pretty school” friends!  I have a new appreciation for Miss Mitchell and Mrs. Foster after spending the morning with 12 two year olds!
